Charles Lewis

Operations Manager

(503) 588-2288 ex. 7569

As a lifelong resident of Salem-Keizer with over 30 years of experience in community media, I am honored to serve as the executive director of CC:Media. My journey with CC:Media began in 1992 as a volunteer and eventually led me to become the facilities coordinator in 2006. For 15 years, I managed CC:Media’s equipment, provided production and editing assistance to both the staff and the public, and connected Salem’s musicians and filmmakers to CC:Media’s resources. In 2021, I took on the new role of media operations manager, overseeing daily operations and leading capital projects such as the completion of our state-of-the-art multimedia studio.

My deep commitment and passion for non-profit work and civic engagement are what drive me, and I am particularly enthusiastic about CC:Media's mission to broaden community access to news and information. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is finding ways to support and inspire our team and the individuals who walk through our doors as we collectively pursue the organization's mission. I am excited to continue fostering relationships within our community and I look forward to CC:Media’s promising future.

On a personal note, when I'm not at work, you'll often find me experimenting with my bass, discovering new podcasts, or practicing Taekwondo

As developer and producer for CC:Media’s Non-Profit Center,  I’ve enjoyed collaborating with our area non-profits since 2008, creating videos that help them with their short and long-term outreach needs which include multiple ways to share media across platforms and social networks.  From story development to videography and editing, It’s my job— and my passion— to find the best way, whether in-studio or on-location or both, to make each non-profit’s video a compelling and effective outreach tool, building and maintaining audience for their programs and services.

After a longtime career in broadcast media, which has taken me to various locales around the state, I am excited to join the team at CC:Media as Multimedia Content Manager in October 2021. It is an opportunity to reconnect with my non-commercial roots, which is where I started while a student at the University of Portland. (Go Pilots!)

I discovered CC:Media after moving to Salem a few years ago, getting involved during COVID by taking virtual training and working on a podcast that now airs on KMWV. I look forward to being a part of the positive, diverse, informative, and entertaining content CC:Media creates for Salem and the Marion County area.

When not at work I help my wife wrangle our young daughter and create my own audio, video, and written content. I also follow soccer and play a mean ukulele. You haven’t lived until you’ve heard Bach or the Beatles on a four-string!

In 2020 I was hired as a producer for CC:Media, producing high school and college sports and music. Previously I worked for a live programing start up company in Chicago, producing nine hours of live video a week for five years. I am fascinated by the fast pace and quick thinking environment that live production offers. My hope is to pass my knowledge on to help others produce their own events. Aside from production I’m also passionate about snowboarding, backpacking in the backcountry, and photography.

Being new to CC:Media, late 2021, as the Office Administrator and Executive Assistant, I am excited to serve the community in any capacity I can. I've resided in the Salem area for over 20 years, working in various customer service positions, as well as in the school district.

When I'm not working, I spend time with my children and enjoy exploring nature. I'm also an avid watcher of football. Go Patriots and Beavers!

I started producing at CC:Media kind of on accident (it was meant to be though!). One day I was driving by CC:Media like I’ve done hundreds of times before. My daughter was crying, so I pulled over, and the big television screen in the window caught my attention. As I watched, I saw a screen with CC:Media’s website, which I went to. I’ve always been involved in video and audio, so I was very interested. I took Orientation and CC:Media’s other classes, and started volunteering as often as possible in August 2015. I learned as much as I could and the next thing I knew, I had my own program. I was hired at CC:Media as Community Facilitator in September 2016. My main goal is to help people turn their great ideas into programs by teaching the skills needed to develop and complete a show. I provide training and assistance from beginning to end. I love working with a diverse group of people, learning about different cultures, and seeing different points of view. I believe that’s what makes Salem great!

First off, I just want to say I LOVE RADIO and becoming Radio Station Manager has been my dream for a very long time. I was born and raised in California where I fell in love with music and radio. I began my radio career in my early twenties and worked my way up through various stations and markets throughout Southern California and Las Vegas. I moved to Washington in 2016 and attended WSU Vancouver to complete my degree. I love planning, creating and inspiring community events where everyone is having the best time and just being themselves.  A place where we can feel free and be at peace.  The best place for that is to be joined with others for the same goal and enjoy every moment. I love wine, going on adventures, painting and I am an animal advocate.  My cat Bastian will tell you all you need to know about cuddles. I graduated from WSU in 2019 with a Bachelor Degree in Sociocultural Anthropology and I currently reside in the Portland suburbs with my fiancé. Wedding details coming soon!

I have been in Salem for just over 15 years and I'm incredibly excited to be joining the CC:Media staff and helping share the stories of those in our local Salem community that I have come to love. I have always enjoyed creating media content, starting as far back as 2009 creating Youtube videos with my schoolmates and learning how to create special effects with little to no budget. I have volunteered multiple times with CC:Media on event productions and have worked as a counselor for their summer camps. For the last few years I have been teaching a variety of different instruments to our local youth and helping put on fantastic music events across the city. During that time, I have met a variety of people from all walks of life that continue to inspire me each day with their knowledge and perspectives. I have also been involved in putting together events like our annual Make Music Day, local community festivals, and smaller venue productions. Recently, my fiancée and I became engaged and are due with a little girl in March! I look forward to the exciting opportunities CC:Media has to offer and learning even more about the great people in our city.

I am so excited to be joining the CCMedia team as a Media Producer! As a teenager I was heavily involved in the theatre tech department and loved helping to tell stories from behind the scenes, however I never thought that would influence my career. Yet, what do you know, what started as a part time custodial job to pay for college eventually evolved into being the Producer at a local church. Now being involved in videography has become my passion. I’m looking forward to learning from and working with the team at CCMedia to branch out and tell a greater variety of stories.

I am an introvert who loves a good challenge. My background is in live-streaming, working with non-profits, and a bachelors in psychology thrown in just for good measure. I have learned on the fly, especially as everything had to change and be upgraded rapidly when the pandemic hit, and find joy in knowing that there is always some new technique or trick that is waiting to be implemented. You’ll rarely find me in front of a camera, but when I’m not behind one I’m often painting miniatures or terrain for my next D&D session, planning the next monster or encounter to throw at my players, trying to crochet while my cat demands attention, or making costumes for a local theatre department.

I’m so thankful to have this opportunity to join the CC:Media team! Video production is what I’m most passionate about, but I’ve had a hand in almost everything under the media umbrella. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio where I helped my aunt with the operation of her magazine company. From there, I moved with my parents to Las Vegas, Nevada where I got most of my media experience; my most favorite being starting my own blogs and YouTube channels on traveling as well as interviewing interesting Las Vegas locals. I hope to use what I’ve learned to impact the city of Salem in the most positive way.

When I’m not creating content, I’m usually at home watching anime with my husband, reading, or picking up a new hobby for the month.
